Tasty and Delicious Alcoholic Desserts
Everybody loves dessert, and this isn't just limited to chocolate, cake, and candy, but in several parts of the world fruit is considered a dessert as well. Alcohol is another thing that has a lot of fans around the world, so why not find ways to combine the forces of the two? I am a big fan of experimenting in the kitchen. I love to cook and love to explore the world of liquor and beer, and ways to make them original and fun. At the end of the day, I think it's important to find ways to treat ourselves and relax! Below is my list of things that I have tried and modified myself as a result of this experimenting. I will be adding to this list over time, so stay tuned!
How to Make "The Perfect Peach"
Simply blend all the ingredients together in a blender, and pour! We served these in martini glasses, but they would taste just as good out of any glass.
- 2 Whole peaches (or nectarines) with the seed removed
- 2 Shots of Triple-Sec
- 2 Shots of Vodka
- Half a cup of ice
- Half a cup of juice. Orange, cranberry, and apple work great.
The Perfect Peach
Succulent and refreshing! Not all sweet drinks should have to have a bunch of artificial sweeteners such as soda or syrup! We came up with this one by deciding to use the natural goodness of fruit. Using ripe peaches to make an fun alcoholic beverage really adds a nice sense of freshness and highlights the deliciousness of real peach juice. Given that peaches are more available during the summer season, makes it a nice and refreshing summer drink. But it could also be substituted with similar fruits that are more common during the colder months as well.
How to make a great adult smoothie!
Again with the blender, throw everything in and let it do it's job!
- 2 tablespoons whipped cream
- 1 apricot
- 3/4 cup pineapple juice
- 1/2 cup ice
- 4 oz of vodka or rum
- 1 1/2 cups of frozen strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries
An Adult Smoothie with a Kick
This is an awesome way to put some bite into a refreshing smoothie. The end result is a very creamy and smooth beverage, and you can hardly taste the alcohol! Which we all know can be a wonderful and scary thing at the same time....:) Whether you are hanging out by the pool or just trying to relax after dinner, these smoothies are a great way to do it. The nice thing about this recipe is that there is plenty of room for customization and variety, if you want to substitute some of the ingredients for other things you would prefer even more. And with that much fruit in it, it can't be that unhealthy...right?
How to make some "Potent Popsicles"
Throw it all in a blender until it becomes a puree. Pour them into a mold of your choice (paper cup, or traditional popsicle mode) and let them freeze for about 30 minutes. Then, add the wooden sticks and let them freeze overnight!
- 5 cups chopped seedless watermelon (1 1/4 pounds)
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup tequila or rum
- 2 tablespoons of sugar or splenda
Potent Popsicles
Granted this may be more of a summer treat, but who would really turn down a spiked popsicle at any time of the year? There is nothing like having a dessert made from natural, fresh fruit, and these popsicles bring out the adult way to enjoy our childhood treats! It is best made with watermelon, but as they may not always be in season, any kind of juicy melon works well. Or, they can be substituted for oranges, strawberries and other berries.
Beer Cream Floats!
Take one scoop of ice cream and plop it into a nice cold glass of beer. For thicker beers like stouts, even adding a little bit of milk or cream takes some of the bitterness out of it. Either serve it straight up or blend it, whichever suits your fancy!
Beer Cream!
This is a really simple concept, and it may sound strange at first but it actually turned out pretty good.Think of a root beer float, but replace the soda with beer. At first it may be overly frothy, so scooping out the extra bubbles may make it easier to drink. From my experience, all kinds of beers work with this, and the best kind of ice cream to use would be vanilla. But, I have used cake flavored ice cream in a lot of beers and that turned out pretty good! Serve in a tall glass with a long straw and spoon!
Rum Infused Pineapple Bits
Spiked fruit as been around for ages, but this has a nice tropical twist to it. All you need is a big glass container and some counter space to let it infuse for about 10 days. My family used to prepare this during the winter holiday season and was always a hit. They come out really really strong, and the trick is to use fresh pineapple and also the vanilla sticks. It is also okay to let it sit in a non-refrigerated area, as the alcoholic content preserves the condition of the fruit.
How to make Rum Infused Pineapple
Here's what you will need:
- 1 Fresh Pineapple, cut up into small cubes. Roughly 1 inch or so.
- 1 Bottle of Spiced Rum, any brand.
- 2 Vanilla Bean Sticks
- 1 Cup of Brown Sugar
- 1/2 Cup of Cinnamon
- Glass container to keep it all in!
Pour the bottle of rum into the container. Add the Sugar, Cinnamon, and Vanilla Beans into it and let it mix while you prepare the pineapple. Peel and cut up the fresh pineapple and add it to the container. Now let it sit for about 10-14 days, and enjoy! Due to the high alcohol content, it does not need to be in the refrigerator, and also lasts a very long time. It will not spoil or go bad, therefore it has a very long shelf life. However, I would recommend eating it all within a month or so. While you are waiting for it to be done, it helps to shake up and contents on a daily basis too.
